About Us

The TBM Foundation is a partner and strategic investor in healthcare and education. We seek to fund innovative programs that improve education, health care and the capacity of human services organizations. We focus on giving in Denver, Colorado, Kalamazoo, Michigan and Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties in California.

Timothy and Bernadette Marquez have a longstanding reputation for philanthropic giving. In 2008, Denver's 5280 Magazine named Timothy and Bernadette as Denver's Outstanding Philanthropists. The Chronicle of Philanthropy ranks them among the nation's most generous donors. They have three children who are also involved in many philanthropic efforts.

Bernadette Marquez is a proud graduate of Michigan State University. She is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of experience working primarily in peri-operative care. She brings her passion for high quality, accessible health care to the work of the foundation.

Timothy Marquez is the founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Venoco, Inc., a Denver-based public energy company that was named Best Corporate Citizen by Oil and Gas Investor magazine in 2006. He attended school within the Denver Public School system and has a passion for improving public education.

The TBM Foundation was established with shares of Venoco stock. Timothy and Bernadette also co-founded the Denver Scholarship Foundation, whose mission is to provide college tuition on a needs basis for all Denver Public High School graduates.
